by Momma-Tossed-Me ini am now officially by being announced at congregation level that i am no longer one of jehovahs wihtnesses.
that news spread like wild fire and i was dropped by all jw's on facebook, which shows the level of control the borg has in this area.

I know the WT is conscious of the available information, which should be emphasized by the way as ACCURATE information available about the WT and JWs being available online, and it's evident by the more recent literature. They probably have a PR department seperate from their typical media/PR department, and designed exclusively to monitor and address what's being said online.
As someone still active and who's been going out in field service since birth, it can be said that there's always this faint bit of fear or maybe anxiety is a better word, but the possibility of running into a Bible nut or Jesus Freak who wants to engage in conversation isn't something that the average JW looks forward to. I imagine for some that apprehension has only increased with the availability of information at people's fingertips about JWs via the internet. Most JWs are only barely prepared for field service, and completely incapable of defending the more complicated WT doctrines at the door, especially when met at the door by someone well versed with their own Bible, or overly familiar with the WT's more controversial policies.
I sort of get the feeling the WT doesn't really care though, as they've gone from saying that the purpose of preaching was to save lives, to it brining glory to God's name. In other words we're out their wasting our time because people know WHAT THEY NEED to know about Jehovah's Witnesses and only the gullible and uneducated are likely to fall for the WT's scheme. The WT recognizes this, and so they're concerned only with retainment, not new converts with the exception of born-ins, but even that's another form of retainment. To be honest, I don't believe the public editions of the Watchtower, and the Awake are really designed for the public, as much as they're designed for the rank & file. If the public wants to know about JWs, they'll go online. Where as the WT discourages JWs from spending too much time on the internet, and encourages JWs to spend excessive time reading the WT's literature.

Christian Legalism at it's worst when it comes to the WT's beard policy.
The last District Convention, I thought it surprising to see a brother with a full beard manning one of the contribution boxes. I imagine some thought he was suspicious, but quite a few JWs knew him come to find out, so that put any concerns to rest. He looked like Marty Stouffer from Wild America.
Occasionally I grow a soul patch, and it's funny how the older brothers want to say something to me, but they can't as they don't have a leg to stand on. It's hilarious because I can see it in their eyes and disposition. In conversation their eyes glance from my eyes and dart towards my bottom lip similar to men who who have trouble focusing on a busty woman's eyes.
On the other hand, I've given talks in neighboring congregations, and within the more lighthearted Halls you'll see brothers with soul patches. The more rigid and conservative Halls you won't even find a mustache.

Motives for starting the lie of Watchtower Authority.
by marriedtoajw ini have yet to come across anyones opinions, jw or not, of the personal motives of the leaders of the org.
to perpetuate what i guess we all would call the lie of the watchtoer authority.
in my opinion, i think that russell was an athiest out to show how easy it is to decieve people using the bible.

I have even less doubt that as time passed and the organization grew, preservation of the organization itself became its primary focus.
This is what I was leaning towards.
Another thing is a measure of responsibility in the sense of scales weighed with people's lives. What I mean is, the old saying about the needs of many outweigh the needs of few. There's over 7 million JWs, most active, and I'd venture to say most genuinely believe, or at least need to believe, with plenty who don't buy it all, and a smaller bunch who are just playing the game for reasons such as keeping their families intact. If it somehow came out from the WT's leadership that they got it wrong, even if they admit that they were victims themselves, it would be devestating to those longtime JWs who wanted to beleive they were involved in something special. You think Kingdom Halls are full of functional alcoholics and people on antidepressants now, imagine what would happen if the WT's leadership came clean?
That being said, I can see those in powerful places, making the difficult decision of allowing those who don't buy it all, suffer since they're/we're a minority in the organization. Hence, the needs of many outweigh the needs of the few.

What was life like for you as a JW teenager?
by highdose inin the wt's illistrations they portray jw teenagers as happy, together group.
my experinace is that the jw teenagers in the cong were some of the bitchyist backstabbing arse holes i'll ever meet.. it was unheard of for us to engage in group "wholesome activity" as show in the wt's illistrations.
the competition amongst the girls for the handsome, sane and elders sons were cut throat.

I love reading through these threads getting a picture of everybody's life. I'm thinking that a comedic coming of age movie based on a young JW's life and double life(in some cases multiple lives), is long overdue. Not a drama like World's Apart, but something more along the line of Dazed & Confused, or a PG-13 rated American Pie.

You know, just reading that letter is sufficient evidence in itself that their policy on blood is retarded. To think, all of this bureaucratic and legalistic mumbo jumbo, and invasion of privacy, due to one simple verse on dietary measures. Talk about straining out a gnat.

Is this possible...... Hundreds of Bethelites now engaged in major reform?
by koolaid-man inwe all know the watchtower organization is now in a defensive mode.
unrelenting criticism and critical information is rapidly coming forward exposing this esoteric cult.. are their hundreds of bethelites now understanding how evil their "faithfull slave" really is?

I really dislike the idea of banning people generally, but I wish Simon or the moderators would put an end to this farce.
I second that motion. All in agreement by show of ?

Plus I got tired of the pinches, dirty looks, and sighes of disgust from my mother.
You remind me of what my father has said for years about the way some JW parents go about raising their kids in the Da Troof. He always said, "Some parents raise their kids to hate the truth." I agree with you too in that I hate field service, hate commenting at meetings, hate assemblies, hate conventions, hate CO visits, ohhh hate the religion.
Most of what I hate about this religion is the outlook in life it provides. You're taught to devalue your current life while awaiting something that's been right around the corner for the past 100 years, matter fact over 2000 years if you put yourself in the shoes of some of the Bible authors. Funny how Paul's disposition in 1 Thess was it's right around the corner, to 2 Thess where he changed his tune to the need for endurance because it wasn't gonna happen anytime soon. He hated his life so bad he couldn't wait to die, and lately I feel the same way like bring it on.
Here we are 2000 years later still enduring with no end in sight. It's all bull shit. As a result you start to hate other people not only because you've been subtlely taught to do, but also because you envy them while they're living life. Being a JW is a lot like living and dying at the same time. The worst part is you even begin to hate yourself because you can't live up to the WT's expecations, and when you realize they've been conning you, you can't help but to hate yourself even more.

Something else too, and it's in harmony with this week's Bible reading, Isaiah 42-44, the use of ornaments in worship. The use of statues, crosses, beads, it's all crap. Worthless crap manufactured by companies or individual. All crap.
